JUMP ROPE ANIM TEST : UNKNOWN SOLDIER (WIP)

This is the first animation test for my new short film, ‘The Unknown Soldier’.

I used some stock mo-cap of a skipping rope cycle, and after a bit of cleanup with the feet contacting the floor I parented the rope handles to the hands and then hand animated the rope rotating around the body.

Lighting was added using the hdri, a directional light from the main window and 3 point lights to […]

SOLDIER MOCAP ANIM TEST : UNKNOWN SOLDIER (WIP)

I downloaded some stock mocap of various actions and then attached it to the model to test and see how the character would react.

There was a lot of cleanup for some of the test shots I want to use but overall it was great to see it working and it was better than I could ever do myself as an animator.

The character rig was the only discipline I didn’t do.  This […]

1ST DIRECTED SHORT FILM : POLLEN (2015)

‘Everyone asks questions. Few sacrifice everything for the answers.’

Two people trapped in an Orwellian world find a symbol of hope that the authorities will do anything to keep secret.

Based on the book ‘Pollen’ by A.D Lamb, I wanted to introduce and get the audience to ask questions about the tense world, themes and characters in this ‘proof of concept’ short film.

After reading the book, I quickly put together a script […]

BEHIND THE SCENES : KINGSMAN: SECRET SERVICE (2015)

Working as the Matchmove/Body Track/Layout Supervisor at Prime Focus I led a team to produce over 200 cameras/layout and body track animation shots for Kingsman: The Secret Service including the Church fight, the end sequence tunnel fight and the space balloon sequence.

Above is a short behind the scenes video from Yahoo! about that crazy church scene.
